Executive Director

At Catapult, we are supporting our member, Mathkind Global, in their search for an Executive Director. This is a hybrid role in the Triangle, NC area with occasional travel requirements.

About Mathkind Global

Mathkind Global is a small, innovative global nonprofit that uses mathematics education as a tool for social change. Mathkind provides teachers with professional development that transforms classroom interactions and strengthens the global learning community through collaboration.

Position Overview:

The Executive Director (ED) provides overall organizational leadership and is Mathkind's chief advocate, spokesperson, and representative. In partnership with the Board of Directors, staff, and Education Advisory Board, the ED builds on past successes, strengthens operations, and secures resources to advance Mathkind's mission and strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

• Mission alignment and external engagement: Apply mission and values as explicit decision criteria; represent Mathkind with coherent, audience‑appropriate messaging; cultivate partnerships with clear guardrails and follow‑through.
• Leadership and culture: Lead, coach, and support staff to deliver results; foster a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable culture; and establish effective management practices and communication routines.
• Resource development: Serve as chief fundraiser; build and manage a disciplined donor pipeline (cultivation, solicitation, stewardship) to diversify and stabilize revenue across individual, foundation, and corporate sources.
• Governance collaboration and strategic leadership: Partner with the Board to align governance priorities and organizational goals; translate strategy into measurable plans, align staffing/budget to priorities, and lead change with capacity‑informed pacing and clear decision rights.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Minimum five years of fundraising and strategic management experience in a complex environment; ideally at least three years at a senior managerial level.
• Demonstrated success cultivating partnerships and securing philanthropic investment (individual, foundation, and/or corporate).
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit governance and significant experience working with governing boards.
• Demonstrated capability leading organizations through change and growth; strong decision-making, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Cross‑cultural work experience; English fluency.

Preferred:

• Advanced degree (strongly preferred).
• Spanish fluency (desired).
• Experience managing international programs/projects.
• Familiarity with educational theory and practice; background in mathematics and/or education (preferred but not required).

Salary, Location, & Travel:

• Salary range: $80,000–$120,000; plus $3,000 annual well‑being stipend and 35 days PTO.
• Must be a US citizen and reside in North Carolina (approximately 85% remote; 15% in-person in Durham/Chapel Hill).
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately four trips per year).
