Job Description
The Program Director has the responsibilities of managing the One-On-One Tutoring and Summer Olympics Program for inner-city students located at the Kosciuszko Community Center.
Salary : Competitive with $40k - $45k range to start.
Qualifications :
Successful female applicant must be resourceful, a good manager, enjoy working with inner-city students, have a college degree or equivalent experience, be well formed in virtues based on natural law, have good interpersonal and communication skills, and can effectively market the program to prospective volunteers and students. Bilingual (English to Spanish) skills are desired. Position is full-time, 40 hours per week, but must be available to work flexible hours due to evening and Saturday program schedule. Interpersonal / Marketing Responsibilities
- Recruitment of 100 or more 4th-8th grade girls for each semester and 250 for summer program.
- Get to know current students well so that most students will be retained.
Recruit new students through :
Asking current students and their parents for referralsMaking presentations at local grade schools followed by phone calls to parentsEstablishing working relationships with school principals and teachersRecruitment of 100 or more female volunteers to tutor and mentor each studentWork with current volunteers so they are engaged and will desire to re-commit each semesterDevelop enthusiasm about finding referrals and follow-up on leadsDevelop relationships with companies so they can advertise programs to employeesBe able to make presentations to professional audiences about programsProgram Leadership Responsibilities
Must be able to get to know all volunteers, students and parents in order to have a greater impact :Must be able to communicate effectively in person, via phone and emailMust work at building connections with program participants, especially parents, students and tutorsProvide ongoing communication for tutors and parentsProvide initial orientation and ongoing training of volunteersLearn established program manual and be able to put it into practice and teach itLearn and lead character talk discussions on virtues based on natural lawTrain a small group of volunteers to be group leaders who will report to youOrganize groups of volunteers and studentsGive presentations and organize speakers to give informative talks to parents on parenting skillsOrganize and lead cultural and fun-filled field trips for students and volunteers each monthOrganize special events and award presentations for volunteers and students in the programAdministrative, Writing and Organizational Responsibilities
