General Purpose

The Store Security Specialist plays a vital role in fostering a safe and secure environment for both associates and customers. You will greet every customer with a smile and maintain a visible presence at store exits and entrances, combating theft and fraud while upholding Ross's values. Your duties will also include monitoring sales floors for indicators of potential theft and collaborating with store leadership to adhere to loss prevention strategies.

Essential Functions

  • Ensuring Safety and Security : Prioritize safety in all actions and provide a visible presence in the store to deter theft and maintain a secure environment.
  • Customer Engagement : Offer exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers, answering their questions courteously, and treating everyone with respect.
  • Brand Representation : Always reflect and support the company's brand and wear the required professional attire.
  • Theft and Fraud Mitigation : Identify suspicious behaviors, gather theft indicators, and communicate effectively with store leadership.
  • Reducing Operational Loss : Train staff on loss prevention policies and ensure checkout procedures are followed correctly.

    • Qualifications and Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.
  • One year of retail supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience in loss prevention or security training is preferred.
  • An active security guard license is preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in building relationships with colleagues and has excellent customer service skills.
  • Capability to effectively resolve conflicts.
  • Must comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding security positions, including background checks and screenings.

    • Physical Requirements

  • Consistent regular attendance.
  • Ability to spend 100% of working time on your feet, moving around the store.
  • Must be able to lift objects over 25 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and crouching may be required.
