Job Description
The Traffic Controller is responsible for safely directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout the hospital campus to ensure smooth traffic flow, patient access, emergency vehicle priority, and overall campus safety. This role is critical in maintaining a calm, organized, and professional environment for patients, visitors, staff, and emergency responders.
Responsibilities :
Direct vehicle traffic at entrances, exits, driveways, and congested areasEnsure clear access for ambulances, fire, and emergency vehicles at all timesAssist patients and visitors with safe pedestrian crossings and wayfindingMonitor traffic congestion and proactively adjust flow to reduce delaysEnforce traffic rules and parking restrictions courteously and professionallyCommunicate effectively with security, valet, and transportation teamsPromptly report incidents such as accidents, stalled vehicles, or unsafe conditionsMaintain visibility and awareness during peak hours, emergencies, and special eventsUse hand signals, signage, cones, radios, and other traffic control equipment properlyReport hazards, violations, or incidents to supervisors following hospital protocolsQualifications :
Must be at least 18 years oldPrior experience in traffic control, security, parking, or customer service preferredAbility to remain calm and professional in high-stress or emergency situationsStrong situational awareness and decision-making skillsExcellent verbal communication and customer service skillsMust pass a background checkProfessional appearance and demeanorStrong communication and customer service skillsAbility to stand for long periods and run short distancesAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to lift or move traffic cones, barricades, or signage (up to 30 lbs)Clear vision and hearing sufficient to monitor traffic and respond to radios
