This is a position for a “working” Manager overseeing both staff and operations. The Managing Funeral Director is responsible for driving growth and profitability by ensuring the location attains case volume and revenue goals. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal, management, supervisory, and customer service skills.
Essential Functions and Competencies
- To provide a premier level of client satisfaction that will satisfy the needs of every client family.
- To identify, implement, and continuously improve the internal practices that impact customer satisfaction, employee morale, and financial performance
- To engage in and support sales related activities, programs, and personnel.
- The successful candidate will have strong planning, organizational, and time management skills, as well as a current license in the applicable state.
- Conduct funeral and memorial ceremonies in a professional and caring manner
- Carry out funeral services from the retrieval of the deceased to the final disposition
- Assist in the maintenance of the facilities, grounds, and vehicles
- Ensure all federal, state, and local regulations related to the funeral industry are followed
- Prepare the memorial area for the family before the services start
- Ensure flowers and other memorabilia are returned to the family after services
- Maintain reverence and respect for the deceased at all times
- Train all staff and strictly enforce all logging, identification, casketing, and cremation procedures
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills.

- Can communicate calmly and kindly with bereaved family and friends. Pays close attention to detail.
- Exhibits ability to properly manage and oversee a budget.

- Is familiar with proper etiquette and procedure for a range of religious or cultural funeral services.

Required Education and Experience
- A Nevada Funeral Director License or the ability to reciprocate is required
- 5+ years’ industry experience with increasing responsibilities
- 2+ years’ experience guiding staff and communicating expectations
- Knowledge of current federal, state, and local regulations related to the funeral industry
- Prior experience managing people preferred
- Budgeting and expense control experience preferred
