Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position in a teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation requiring a GA or compact license and strong clinical skills.
Responsibilities
Work in a 16-bed Med / Surg Telemetry unit of a large hospital with Level 1 Trauma and teaching hospital statusTypical patient population includes chest pain, syncope, abdominal pain, COPD exacerbation, heart failure observation, diabetes, and post-op patientsRN patient ratios range from 1 : 4-6Uses Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, Pyxis system, Phillips monitors, and cardiac telemetry monitoringRequired to float to all adult med / surg and telemetry units as neededNo on-call requirements12-hour shifts available, both days (7A-7P) and nights (7P-7A)Weekend rotation involves working 5-6 shifts every 6 weeksMust work either 12 / 24 or 12 / 25 and 12 / 31 or 1 / 1 as holiday coverageResponsibilities include cardiac monitoring, medication drips titrated to heart rate, IV management, and interdisciplinary care coordinationSupport provided by CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurse, resource team, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists 24 / 7Orientation includes one day of facility orientation plus two days of departmental training with educational modulesScrub color for RNs is navyFree campus parking available with pay-to-park deck optionUnit culture emphasizes teamwork and manages high patient turnoverFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyManager approval required for time-off requestsRequirements
Active GA or compact RN licenseMinimum of 2 years Med / Tele RN experience requiredAssociate's degree in Nursing or higherCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredBasic Cardiac Rhythm test completed during onboardingProficiency in trach care, chest tube management, IV insertion and maintenance, cardiac monitoring, care coordination, and discharge planningStrong clinical assessment and time management skillsEpic EMR experience preferredBenefits
