Respiratory Therapist (Direct Hire)

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $31.49 – $37.05 per hour
• Sign-On Bonus:
  • Up to $15,000 for 2-year commitment
  • Up to $20,000 for 3-year commitment
• Relocation Bonus: Discussed during interview (case-by-case)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory care per physician orders and scope of Illinois Respiratory Therapy Practice Act.
• Provide respiratory therapy interventions to patients in ICU, intermediate units, general floors, and ED.
• Respond to Rapid Response calls and Blue Alerts as primary airway manager.
• Initiate and manage mechanical ventilation, including high-frequency ventilation, inverse I:E ratio, and advanced ventilation modes.
• Administer aerosolized medications, medical gases, and specialty gases (Nitrogen, Heliox, Nitric Oxide).
• Monitor patient response, assess therapy effectiveness, and recommend changes per patient condition.
• Document interventions and patient outcomes in accordance with regulatory and TJC/Medicare guidelines.
• Round with interdisciplinary team in ICU and intermediate units.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care
• Current Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner License
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• New grads welcome (must have passed NBRC TMC & CSE exams and applied for IL license before orientation)
• Understanding of drug-free campus policy; negative drug screen required

Physical & Work Requirements

• Lift objects up to 60 lbs; push/pull equipment up to 35 lbs
• Stand up to 4 hours at a time; stoop, bend, reach, and have manual dexterity
• Lift and position patients as needed
• Communicate effectively and maintain accurate documentation
• Color vision required for certain tasks
