Staff Attorney needed at nonprofit civil legal firm for their Yonkers office. The Attorney will work on General Practice Matters with an emphasis on Foreclosure and Housing Law. Duties of the Position: Include intake and individual case work, litigation in state and federal courts, including appellate practice, and education and outreach efforts directed at community members and service providers. The person hired will also be expected to adhere to program and case handling standards, funder requirements, the highest professional standards, and be available as a resource to staff and communities. Requirements Member in good standing of the New York State Bar 1 plus years of legal experience, includinglitigation Understanding of the nature and dynamics of eviction Excellent people skills, written, and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders Court appearances Ability to work some outreach events on nights and weekends Demonstrated commitment to serving persons who cannot afford an attorney is a plus
