School Social Worker (Middle School)

About the Opportunity:
AnthroMed Education is seeking a dedicated School Social Worker to support a partner school district in Hazel Park, MI. This is a full or part time position opening due to a leave of absence, providing essential support to students for the remainder of the school year. You will join a robust, multi-disciplinary team committed to student success in a collaborative middle school environment.
This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a team-based setting, as you will work alongside another Social Worker in the building, as well as two Speech-Language Pathologists, a full-time Psychologist, and a Teacher Consultant.
Caseload and Environment:
- Caseload: Approximately 34 students with IEPs.
- Focus: Support includes social skills groups and one self-contained classroom (ASD/CI) with a small student population.
- Structure: Highly collaborative environment with an on-site Special Education Supervisor and Assistant Principal dedicated to Special Education oversight.
- Dedicated Space: You will have a private, dedicated office space to conduct sessions and meetings.
- Flexibility: While currently slated as full-time, the Director will also consider part-time applicants.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect social work services to middle school students in need of emotional, behavioral, and social support.
- Conduct IEP Evaluations and contribute to the development of meaningful student goals.
- Facilitate small group (social skills) and individual counseling sessions.
- Lead and support the implementation of BIPs and FBAs.
- Participate in IEP and 504 Plan meetings to advocate for student needs.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure comprehensive student care.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Michigan School Social Work Certification
- Experience working with school-aged children for one year.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $45 - $60/hour, based on experience (paid weekly)
