Description

Acts as the Music Library’s lead for learning and engagement. Coordinates the Music Library’s information literacy, reference, outreach, and assessment efforts.
Contributes to Music Library strategic direction, vision, and priorities by serving as a member of the Music Library Leadership Team.
Collaborates with colleagues in the Music Library and beyond to develop, evaluate, and assess programming, services, and resources that engage students, cultivates a deeper connection with the Music Library and its resources, and contributes to an environment that supports equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and antiracism.
Acts as a liaison between the Music Library and colleagues across the Harvard Library working in learning and engagement, including others in Arts, Archives, and Special Collections, and those in Services for Academic Programs. Ensures that the Music Library’s learning and engagement services and programs are developed in connection with broader efforts.
Serves as the primary liaison to the Music Department. In collaboration with the Music Librarian for Scholarly Communications and Digital Programs, actively engages with faculty, instructors, and other librarians as partners in programmatic integration of information literacy concepts and skills into the undergraduate and graduate curricula. Seeks out and participates in opportunities to support digital scholarship and interdisciplinary areas of study.
Provides in-person and virtual reference and research consultation services.
Creates online research tools to support users seeking relevant collections, services, and resources at the Music Library and across Harvard Library.
Manages the Music Library’s social media channels to promote Music Library collections and services, participates in the development of physical and online exhibitions.
Serves on Library and University committees as appropriate.
Remains current on developments in the field and represents the library at relevant professional and scholarly meetings and conferences; contributes to the profession with research, presentations, publications, and/or participation in professional organizations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES

May supervise student workers and temporary/project staff (as needed).

Basic Qualifications

Masters degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited school.
Music degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum three years related professional experience.
Demonstrated experience providing information literacy instruction in an academic setting.
Demonstrated experience supporting the information needs of faculty, students, and advanced researchers.

Evidence of innovation, creativity, and enthusiasm for developing user-focused outreach programs and events.
Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in issues, trends, and technologies related to information literacy, pedagogy, and/or instructional design, as applied to music.
Record of engagement with professional groups and activities and/or contributions to professional or scholarly literature.

Working Conditions

May interact with collections that may contain dust, mold, or other contaminants.
The work associated with this position is performed in a library/office setting.
The position is based on site in Cambridge, MA. There may be the opportunity for a hybrid work model compliant with Harvard University policies.
