Driver

A driver's job description involves

transporting goods or passengers safely and efficiently to designated locations

  • . Key duties include operating a vehicle legally, planning efficient routes, performing routine vehicle maintenance and inspections, and loading / unloading cargo. Drivers are also responsible for maintaining accurate records, communicating with dispatch, and ensuring the vehicle remains clean.

Key responsibilities :

  • Transportation : Safely transport passengers, goods, or equipment to various locations in a timely manner.
  • Route planning : Plan and follow the most efficient routes, using navigation systems and knowledge of the area, while accounting for traffic and road conditions.
  • Vehicle maintenance : Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, perform basic maintenance like checking fluid levels and tire pressure, and arrange for repairs when necessary.
  • Safety and compliance : Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, operate the vehicle defensively, and ensure the safety of passengers and cargo.
  • Record keeping : Maintain accurate logs of mileage, deliveries, fuel consumption, and any vehicle issues or incidents.
  • Loading and unloading : Safely load and unload cargo or assist passengers when required.
  • Communication : Communicate effectively with passengers, dispatchers, and management regarding route updates, delays, or issues.
  • Vehicle upkeep : Keep the vehicle clean and presentable, both inside and out.

  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are essential.
  • Strong navigational skills and the ability to use GPS technology.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • The ability to work independently and adapt to changing schedules.
