About The Night Ministry

The Night Ministry is a Chicago-based nonprofit that provides housing, health care, and human connection to individuals experiencing homelessness or poverty. Our programs rely on well-maintained spaces that are safe, clean, and functional-allowing our staff to focus on supporting the needs of our community.

As a Maintenance Worker , you'll play a hands-on role in maintaining our shelter and administrative facilities, vehicles, and equipment. Your work will help ensure our programs run smoothly and that clients and staff feel welcome and supported in their environments.

What You'll Do

You'll be responsible for a mix of custodial, repair, maintenance, and inspection tasks across The Night Ministry's facilities and vehicles. This position is based primarily at our Open Door Shelter / West Town location but may involve support across other program sites.

Key responsibilities include :

Cleaning & Sanitation

• Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in bathrooms, kitchens, offices, hallways, and common areas.
• Replenish supplies and remove trash regularly.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, strip, and wax floors as needed.
• Clean storage areas and perform occasional window, wall, and vent cleaning.

General Maintenance
