The Opportunity

HireNow Staffing is acting as a direct placement partner for a confidential commercial general contractor seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead a major healthcare construction project in Wilmington, North Carolina.

This is a high-visibility field leadership role overseeing the construction of a 3-story rehabilitation hospital (~90,000 SF). The ideal candidate is a proven builder who thrives in regulated environments, understands the complexity of healthcare work, and can deliver excellence across safety, schedule, quality, and subcontractor execution.

This role requires a leader who can independently run the jobsite and maintain consistent communication with project stakeholders from mobilization through closeout.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Candidates will be considered for interview based on demonstrated ability to:

• Lead day-to-day onsite construction operations for a ground-up healthcare facility
• Coordinate subcontractors, field crews, inspections, and phased work sequencing
• Maintain full ownership of the project schedule, ensuring milestones are met without compromising quality
• Drive safety compliance and enforce best practices across all trades
• Oversee quality control and ensure work aligns with healthcare construction standards and regulatory expectations
• Conduct regular site meetings, communicate priorities clearly, and keep execution aligned across teams
• Identify challenges early and solve problems proactively in an active, high-stakes environment
• Serve as the onsite face of the project, demonstrating professionalism and reliability with client-facing communication
• Support budget control through field-level awareness of productivity, change impacts, and resource planning

Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

These qualifications are mandatory. Candidates who do not meet all requirements will not be considered.

• 5-10 years of Superintendent experience in large-scale commercial construction
• Proven experience delivering healthcare construction projects (hospital, rehab, clinical facilities)
• Experience managing projects 75,000+ square feet in size
• Strong subcontractor coordination and independent jobsite leadership capability
• Ability to work fully onsite in Wilmington, NC (no hybrid/remote flexibility)
• Deep knowledge of safety, compliance, inspections, and quality control in regulated builds
• Demonstrated reliability, execution discipline, and job stability (2-3+ years per employer preferred)

Preferred Qualifications (Standout Differentiators)

Candidates with the following experience will be viewed as especially strong:

• Ground-up hospital or rehabilitation facility construction experience
• Background working with a top commercial GC on complex healthcare builds
• Formal education in Construction Management or related discipline
• Track record of successfully completing multi-story healthcare projects from start to finish
• Calm, team-oriented leadership style under pressure

This Role Is Not a Fit For

The client will not consider candidates with:

• No ground-up healthcare construction experience
• Background primarily in residential or non-regulated commercial projects
• Limited experience managing large subcontractor scopes independently
• Difficulty operating in live, fast-moving field environments
• Inability or unwillingness to work onsite full time
• History of unfinished projects or frequent job changes
