Position Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for scheduling and coordinating all work orders for the sign manufacturing operation. This role ensures all jobs are fully accurate, complete, and ready for production by verifying quantities, materials, shop drawings, and engineering details before releasing work to the production floor. The Production Planner acts as the communication bridge between Sales, Project Management, Design / Engineering, and Production to keep workflow on schedule, minimize delays, and support on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the daily and weekly production schedule within the ERP system.
- Assign workload across departments based on shop capacity, timelines, and priorities.
- Adjust schedules proactively when changes occur such as material delays, rush jobs, or rework.
- Communicate schedule changes effectively to Production Leadership.
- Review incoming work orders to confirm scope, quantities, materials, and specifications.
- Ensure all required files (shop drawings, artwork, measurements, engineering notes, templates) are attached and correct before releasing the job.
- Verify that design / engineering details align with routing, hardware, color, and installation specifications.
- Work closely with Sales, Project Management, and Design to clarify customer specifications.
- Coordinate job readiness with Purchasing to confirm material availability.
- Support Production Leads by providing schedules, job packets, and updates in real time.
- Track job progress through each production stage and identify delays or constraints.
- Maintain accurate job start / completion dates in ERP.
Qualifications
Experience in production planning, scheduling, or coordination-preferably in sign manufacturing or fabrication.Strong understanding of shop drawings, signage materials, hardware, and manufacturing processes.Familiarity with ERP systems.Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.Ability to multitask, prioritize, and pivot quickly.Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments.Ability to stand for extended periods and follow all safety procedures.What We Offer :
