About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading Am Law 100 firm, is seeking an Associate Director of Business Development to support its Mergers & Acquisitions practice. This role will lead and implement strategic business development and client initiatives, while managing a team dedicated to supporting the practice’s growth and visibility.
The position is ideal for a senior business development professional with proven experience in Am Law 10 firms (preferred) or Am Law 50 (considered for strong candidates), who can partner with top-tier attorneys to elevate client relationships and drive practice growth.
What You’ll Do
● Partner with practice group leaders, partners, and BD leadership to design and execute strategic initiatives
● Drive key client development and targeting to strengthen relationships and expand opportunities
● Identify cross-selling opportunities across practice groups and offices
● Develop tailored proposals, pitches, and strategic communications for M&A pursuits
● Lead content-driven marketing campaigns and thought leadership to enhance visibility
● Monitor industry trends and competitive intelligence to inform strategy
● Plan and execute client-facing events, seminars, and programs
● Oversee practice group BD budgets to ensure alignment with firm objectives
● Travel as needed to support client development initiatives
What You Bring
● Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or law (required)
● 12+ years of progressive marketing/business development experience
● 5+ years of management experience in a law firm setting
● Demonstrated experience supporting M&A practice groups (required)
● Deep understanding of legal industry trends and corporate client expectations
● Strong writing, editing, and research skills with ability to turn data into insights
● Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, CRM, and document management systems
● Proven leadership skills with ability to drive collaboration and mentor teams
