SUMMARY
The OSP Design Engineer is responsible for conducting detailed fiber-optic network designs for middle-mile and last-mile networks, including Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) projects. This role requires an in-depth understanding of fiber-optic design standards and industry best practices, as well as working knowledge of GIS / CAD design software and the ability to utilize field-collection tools to create accurate final deliverables.
Typical OSP design responsibilities range from determining pathway routing and evaluating construction alternatives based on site walkouts and field data collection to producing final detailed designs. The Design Engineer is fully responsible and accountable for the final design content and all documentation required to support the placement of physical fiber infrastructure for both Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) communication facilities.
