Material Handler
Material Handler responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Receive materials from co-manufacturers and the production plant, ensuring all inbound shipments have accurate counts, correct labeling, and high-quality material / pallet condition
- Conduct mandatory inspections of incoming product and trailers, including documenting required refrigeration unit temperatures of inbound materials
- Operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs) and other common material handling devices safely within a refrigerated environment (30-40F, occasionally 0F)
- Fill customer orders by utilizing onboard computers or pick sheets, transferring cases of product efficiently from storage pallets to outbound shipping pallets
- Stage and transfer material and product throughout the warehouse as necessary to support operational flow
- Review pick / loading sheets to accurately estimate required space on the pallet or truck for consistent, safe, and product-integrity-guaranteeing loads
- Securely load finished product onto outbound trucks in the proper sequence, strictly following all "special instructions" (e.g., slipsheets, pallet type, load locks, reefer verification)
- Verify the operation of the reefer unit and place / remove jack stands as necessary for trailer safety
- Adhere to all safe work practices, company GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), and maintain strict sanitary conditions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
- Report immediately to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety
- Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats and steel-toed safety shoes
Material handler requirements :
