This is a tenure-track assistant professor of art (9-month appointment; with specialization in Painting and Drawing) position. Primary duties will include teaching undergraduate art courses in painting and drawing and developing curriculum in contemporary, mixed-media, and interdisciplinary practices. As a tenure-track faculty member, the successful candidate will maintain an active record of scholarly and creative work, mentor students, and foster a positive learning environment. A reduced load (2-2 for the first 2 years plus research start-up package) is provided to new hires to allow them to focus on conducting creative work and research. Duties also include service to the Visual Arts Program including attending faculty meetings, mentoring students, assisting with management of the TAMIU Art Gallery, and conducting community engagement activities.
