Summary

SRP is seeking an experienced engineer to work with internal teams and external partners in support of licensing activities, including site selection and Early Site Permits for potential future nuclear generation projects. This role is essential to establishing advanced nuclear as an option for long-term strategic resource needs, ensuring future permit and license applications are robust, future-ready, and compatible with multiple nuclear technologies. The position requires strong collaboration with counterparts at other utilities and coordination within a matrixed team across multiple SRP departments

What You'll Do

  • Lead technology and partner evaluation of nuclear technologies by gathering data from preferred vendors and identifying candidates for inclusion in the Plant Parameter Envelope (PPE) of an Early Site Permit (ESP). Ensure evaluations consider not only technical merit, but also long-term partnership suitability, cultural fit, and alignment with SRP's operational philosophy and project vision.
  • Develop and Finalize PPE in collaboration with other partners and external contractors.
  • Track developments in the nuclear industry and maintain regular communication with down-selected technology vendors. Establish methods to monitor progress and share updates with internal project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with counterparts at other utilities to share insights, align on best practices, and monitor technology developments.
  • Coordinate within SRP's matrixed team, integrating technical, regulatory, environmental, water, land, transmission and site considerations.
  • Act as a connector and team builder, ensuring inclusivity and transparency in decision-making.
  • Prepare and deliver reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Administer and review work performed by consultants, internal staff, and technology developers, including coordination with SRP subject matter experts.
  • Represent SRP in industry groups and organizations focused on nuclear technology development, building relationships that reflect SRP's collaborative and inclusive approach.
  • Mentor less-experienced engineers on technical and project management best practices.
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned.
  • What It Takes To Succeed

Beyond technology, this position emphasizes strategic partner selection - choosing vendors who could be SRP's collaborators for the next 40-80 years. The suitability of these partners, their alignment with SRP's vision, and their ability to operate in harmony with SRP's culture and values are paramount. This position requires strong collaboration with other utilities, vendors, and a matrixed team across SRP's departments, as well as exceptional communication and team-building skills to foster inclusivity and trust across all stakeholders.
