We are looking for a teacher who is committed to reaching all students raising achievement through a rigorous and relevant curriculum and supporting a school culture of excellence and joyful learning. This employee is a member of our Health & Wellness team. This position could involve teaching additional wellness or PE classes on occasion as well as health-related workshops for Grade ideal candidate has experience with standards-based grading and is committed to raising student achievement through an integration of rigorous college preparatory classes with service to the community. The PE teacher will be responsible for the following in addition to other duties as assigned by their manager:Working with and for Students:Aligning curricular standards with state guidelinesPromoting health and wellness initiatives within the school and communityDocumenting annual unit and lesson plans correlated to state standardsMonitoring student progress through standards-based assessmentsAnalyzing student dataDifferentiating instructionSupporting planning and co-leading Service-Learning projectsAdvising students through daily Connections class (homeroom)Input academic and behavioral data on the school data management systemAnalyze student data and monitor student progress through standards-based assessmentsWorking with and for Families:Participate in Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences three times per yearCommunicate regularly with families about academic and social progressWorking with and for ColleaguesBuild and maintain a strong school culture centered on student achievementWork collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the success of the school missionParticipate in weekly professional development sessionsParticipate in weekly grade-level team meetingsInputting academic and behavioral data into the school data management systemWho You Are:You are a skilled educator with at least 3 years of experience teaching Health/PE have experience implementing a culturally responsive curriculum. You are committed to standards-based teaching and work to build student-centered learning environments. You respond proactively and reactively to the academic and social-emotional needs of students in their classrooms. You have a proven track record of achieving academic success with a diverse student are values-aligned. You are passionate about Salem Academy Charter Schools mission and recognize the assets and community cultural wealth of all students families and staff. You have experience fostering effective inclusion practices and a safe positive and respectful class and school culture.
