Our General Contracting Division is seeking an experienced MEP Preconstruction Manager to lead the preconstruction efforts for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
The ideal candidate will oversee MEP estimating (emphasis on the Mechanical Side), design review, constructability assessments, and coordination to ensure accurate budgets and seamless integration into overall project planning.
This role is vital in establishing a solid foundation for successful project execution, working closely with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal staff.
Responsibilities
Lead MEP-specific preconstruction activities, including detailed estimating, budgeting, and scheduling.
Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams to define project scope and MEP requirements.
Review MEP design documents and specifications for constructability, cost efficiencies, and potential risks.
Coordinate and solicit MEP subcontractor and vendor proposals, negotiate bids, and select qualified partners.
Develop accurate MEP cost estimates, value engineering options, and constructability reviews.
Prepare and maintain MEP project schedules in alignment with overall project timelines.
Identify potential MEP-related challenges early and develop mitigation strategies.
Support the development of bid packages, proposals, and presentations related to MEP scope.
Facilitate smooth transition from preconstruction to project execution, ensuring all MEP planning is aligned.
Foster effective communication with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders regarding MEP aspects.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in MEP estimating, preconstruction, or related roles (Within a general contracting environment would be nice!)
Strong knowledge of MEP systems, construction processes, and relevant codes and standards.
Proven ability to develop accurate estimates, schedules, and constructability reviews for MEP work.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in estimating and project management software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, Trimble, Microsoft Project).
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
