THE ROLE : AMD is seeking an experienced product engineering leader to manage and drive end-to-end product cost attainment from concept until ramp in production. THE PERSON : The person in this role will have direct visibility to the Executive Team, and will draw upon their years of managing large, complex engineering projects to bring best-in-class products to market. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Forecast cost entitlement in all phases of product life cycle. Manage product cost stakeholder reviews to align product specific inputs. Own input sanity, estimation process, cost reviews and product / business unit specific modeling requirements. Identify and Drive key product / BU specific cost improvement projects via cross functional teams / stakeholders. Represent OPS / SEO to interact with BU / SET’s on cost estimation, forecasting, challenges, and options. Organize product phase-gate reviews with Ops / Engineering / Finance / BUs, thru the NPI phase of products. Represent Sourcing and engineering Ops in product SET / core forums during NPI phase to influence DFC (design for cost). Actively engage with manufacturing capability and sourcing forums to align engineering and procurement objectives. Work closely with BU Engineering and business leads to facilitate operational alignment during NPI phase of products. Internally align all SEO functions (FTO, EMCO, IS) to attain best in class product execution, cost, and margin. Replicate and synergize the best practices across BU’s and products. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE : Proven experience in Product engineering and Program management of complex SOC’s or foundry technologies. Experience managing large complex and high impact engineering / business projects. Experienced working with diverse matrix organizations and virtual teams. Exposure to process technology, SOC or substrate design, manufacturing. Experience with program management tools and processes. Proven communication and presentation skills. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS : Bachelor's degree in engineering. (Master's degree preferred) LOCATION : Austin, TX THE ROLE As a Product Development Engineer, you will support and lead efforts to qualify and ramp next‑generation AMD microprocessors. The role spans the New Product Introduction (NPI) and production lifecycle and may involve work in Data Analysis, Product Definition, and System-Level Test (SLT). Product engineers ensure overall compatibility, compliance, and test coverage of microprocessors—from initial silicon bring-up through high‑volume manufacturing. This position specifically emphasizes Data Analysis, Yield Improvement, and ATE Test Point Optimization / Validation, including driving our team through critical test coverage and quality milestones. THE PERSON The ideal candidate is a self-driven engineer who can make sound technical decisions independently and take accountability for accuracy, reliability, and completeness of assigned work. This role provides the opportunity to influence technical direction across multiple products within the portfolio. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop, integrate, and release continuous improvements to product quality, test efficiency, and overall workflow. Support new product bring-up, including characterization, margin analysis, and evaluation of test points. Investigate and debug issues related to test, yield, power, and performance, identifying root causes and improvement opportunities. Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Design, Diagnostics, Foundry Technology, Supply Chain, and other engineering groups—to resolve product‑related issues. Enhance and maintain the tools, methods, and processes required for generating team results. REQUIRED SKILLS Coursework or experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Digital Logic, Circuit Theory, or Computer Architecture. Proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as Python, C, Java, Ruby, SQL, or shell scripting. Solid understanding of statistical methods and Pareto-based analysis. Familiarity with fundamental PC components and system assembly. Proficiency with MS Office and Windows OS (or similar toolsets). Willingness to work hands-on with AMD technology. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE Experience with statistical and data analysis tools such as JMP or Snowflake. Familiarity with ATE test equipment, methodologies, or semiconductor test environments. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS B.S. in Engineering or Physics required; degrees in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or Computer Engineering preferred. Advanced degrees welcome.
