Under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success, the Director of the Student Ambassador and Mentorship Program (SAMP) is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of activities within the program. SAMP is an equity-driven initiative designed to provide leadership and professional development opportunities for women, non-binary, and transgender students who identify with at least one of the following categories : Person of Color, student with a disability, first-generation college student, LGBTQIA2+, or Pell-Grant eligible. The Director ensures that the program aligns with institutional strategic goals and state guidelines while fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment among participants facing systemic barriers.

  • Plan, implement and oversee the SAMP program, ensuring alignment with the College's strategic plan and state funding requirements.
  • Develop and manage recruitment and outreach plans to engage eligible students, ensuring compliance with equity and inclusivity guidelines.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate program staff, ensuring professional growth and team collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate and timely data records for reporting purposes, ensuring compliance with state and institutional requirements. Conduct regular data reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and transparency.
  • Develop and facilitate culturally responsive training, workshops, and mentoring opportunities that align with the program's mission.
  • Monitor and assess program outcomes using platforms like EAB Navigate, preparing comprehensive reports to measure student and program success.
  • Collaborate with institutional partners, including El Centro, ALANA, CAPS, OSDDS, TRIO, ESL Support, to create integrated support networks for participants.
  • Coordinate programming activities, including leadership workshops, community-building events, and professional development opportunities.
  • Manage the program's operational budget and provide budgetary reports as requested.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between SAMP and internal / external stakeholders, including promoting the program to the student body, faculty, and community organizations.
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, and ongoing engagement of student ambassadors, including facilitating onboarding, communicating program updates, and ensuring ambassadors meet expectations.
  • Collaborate with departments and community partners to support program activities, training opportunities, and volunteer facilitation.
  • Administer the mentoring component of SAMP to foster a sense of belonging among participants.
  • Provide direction for SAMP success coaches and develop recruitment and management strategies to support program goals.
  • Develop and maintain program communications, including creating a student ambassador newsletter.
  • Manage program data systems, including maintaining databases, conducting regular data audits, and generating actionable reports to support program evaluation and strategic decision-making.
  • Assist the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success with college-wide assignments that further the College's mission, vision, and strategic equity plans.
  • Perform special projects and related responsibilities as initiated and requested.

REQUIRED :

  • Master's degree or higher in Student Development, Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership or related discipline
  • Three years of student program management experience, preferably serving underrepresented student populations.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget management and financial oversight.
  • Proven ability in data analysis, reporting, and assessment to ensure program accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience in student development strategies and high impact practices.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to build and lead effective professional teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership in creating and implementing successful programs, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
  • Proficiency in outcomes assessment, including developing metrics, analyzing results, and applying findings to drive program improvement.
  • Generative thinking skills and vision to address evolving technology and the demands of a changing global economy.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission of a 21st century comprehensive Community College.
  • PREFERRED :

  • Experience (administrative or educational) at the community college level;
  • Experience with collective bargaining agreements; leadership of educational assessment and / or accountability initiatives;
  • Proficiency in EAB Navigate or similar platforms for student engagement and success tracking;
  • Virtual learning programming, knowledge of guided pathways and experience with grant administration.

    Salary Range : $83,082-$91,729 / year, plus a comprehensive State benefits package

    Hours : 37.5 hrs. / week
