THE ROLE
Insomniac is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Junior Production Designer. This role will be responsible for managing various aspects of show management from pre-production through post-production. This position reports into the Production Designer. This is not a remote position and requires travel on site at various event locations and at offices as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with design stake holders (Executive Producers, Producers, LEG, INS Design, VISCOM, Elevated Experience, Site Experience, Art Ops, Stage Production) to bring creative concepts to life within the event footprint on assigned projects
- Create design decks for assigned shows and projects
- Design thematic elements for fabrication and work with CAD Specialist to create technical drawings across all assigned projects
- Create Sketchup renderings for event elements and themed areas on assigned projects
- Approve onsite assets (furnishings, tenting, etc.) for assigned areas
- Create concept art for assigned projects
- Ensure technical drawings accurately reflect design concepts
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5+ years of working experience as a designer or in a related position
- 3+ years of event coordinating/planning and execution
- Proficiency in 3D software, preferably Sketchup
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, spreadsheets, Apple operating systems, Google Suite, Airtable, Asana, and other programs as necessary
- A portfolio showcasing prior design work will be required. Must show projects from concept to completion
- Must be motivated with an “Everything is possible” attitude
- Must be an active problem solver, instilled with a sense of urgency for projects large and small
- Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
- Must be able and willing to work nights and weekends and travel (economy) overnight/weekends
- Ability to travel is required (economy)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels & busy environments in dynamic work locations
- May work in drastic temperature climates while on site at events
- Must be willing to travel to work during holidays, evening and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlines
- Must be able to continuously stand or walk
- Must be able to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces
