Job Summary
The Project Manager oversees the full lifecycle of network infrastructure and cabling projects, ensuring successful planning, execution, budgeting, and delivery in alignment with customer expectations. This role leads project development, scheduling, cost management, and quality assurance while coordinating closely with internal teams, external partners, and clients. Responsibilities include resource planning, design coordination, labor oversight, client engagement, risk management, and overall program leadership. The Project Manager is expected to maintain strong operational control of active project sites, promote safety and quality standards, and ensure customer satisfaction throughout each phase of the project.
Job Responsibilities
Lead the management and delivery of assigned projects, establishing program schedules and key milestones while ensuring targets for cost, schedule, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction are met.
Identify, acquire, and manage project resources, adjusting as necessary to meet changing requirements.
Evaluate proposed materials and products for constructability and feasibility during pre-construction.
Prepare and/or oversee cost estimates throughout multiple project stages and support value engineering efforts.
Develop and maintain the project schedule and budget, including progress tracking and financial reporting.
Interpret and communicate project plans, specifications, and contract terms to team members, contractors, and clients.
Determine labor requirements, dispatch technicians, and coordinate travel for personnel assigned to the project.
Collaborate with superintendents, field engineers, and other trade partners to support effective project execution.
Oversee jobsite safety practices and ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and customer requirements.
Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, or additions with designers, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Obtain necessary permits and licenses for project activities.
Supervise project staff both onsite and in the office, including recruitment, training, performance management, and corrective actions when necessary.
Evaluate construction means and methods to ensure cost-effectiveness and alignment with project goals.
Solicit, negotiate, and oversee material suppliers and subcontractors.
Manage procurement of equipment, materials, and supplies required for project completion.
Prepare and submit budget estimates, cost tracking reports, and required weekly and monthly reporting and projections.
Develop, implement, and maintain quality control programs.
Address delays, emergencies, and unforeseen issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Lead client engagement efforts, act as the primary liaison, and maintain strong client satisfaction.
Manage program components including safety, environmental compliance, quality assurance, and material logistics.
Monitor job cost postings for accuracy and completeness and support invoicing and collections.
Prepare, maintain, and complete all components of the project management playbook.
Assess, mentor, and develop project team members and vendor teams.
Communicate program status, risks, and resolutions proactively to stakeholders.
Be physically present on the jobsite to manage active project operations.
Job Requirements
Bachelors degree in computer science, business management, electrical engineering, construction management, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
Ten or more years of experience in construction management, data centers, or structured cabling environments.
Demonstrated success delivering mission-critical programs on time, within budget, and to required quality and safety standards.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Experience in contract negotiation and administration.
Strong leadership skills with experience in building, coaching, and managing teams.
Ability to engage effectively with clients in complex program environments.
Strong organizational, time management, and coordination skills across multiple disciplines.
Understanding of key program management concepts, including earned value management and common performance metrics.
PMP certification preferred.
Telecommunications certifications such as BICSI RCDD preferred.
