Manufacturing company located in Alachua, FL has immediate opening for an experienced maintenance mechanic. This is a temp to hire position offering permanent employment after probation period (approximately 90 days).

Summary :

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, this person will be responsible for changing and watering batteries for our fleet of forklifts, completing preventive maintenance on equipment / machinery, completing regular inspections, and responding to requests for service. This is a skilled / semi-skilled position in several trades which is expected to include working with powered and manual tools, technical publications, lubricants, cleaners, paints and primers. This individual will work as part of a team and independently in extreme temperatures and sometimes at heights on equipment and ladders.

  • The shift for this position is Monday-Thursday, 6PM-6AM

Must have experience or be able to acquire basic competency with the following :

  • Basic electrical and electronic troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems
  • Maintains and repairs lift trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses all tools carefully.
  • Organizes and maintains tool room and spare parts storage rooms.
  • Performs accurate records for preventive maintenance.

    • Job Qualifications :

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to interpret and work from sketches and diagrams.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Trade school diploma preferred. Preferably experience in building and plant maintenance work which involved electrical, mechanical, welding / fabrication, etc.

    Pay : $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

    Expected hours : 48 per week
