Seeking a hands?on Software Architect to lead the design and evolution of our platforms. This role defines system boundaries, data contracts, and non?functional requirements while collaborating with front?end, back?end, data engineering, and simulation teams.

  • Clarity & Composability : simple, modular components with clean interfaces.
  • Data-Centric Design : canonical models, schema evolution, reproducibility.
  • Security-by-Design : least privilege, defense-in-depth, auditable access.
  • Observability : traceable flows with meaningful metrics, logs, spans.
  • User-Focused : great developer experience and intuitive technical UIs.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end system architecture, maintain reference architecture, roadmaps, and ADRs.
  • Model domains and bounded contexts using DDD; define service contracts and integration points.
  • Define data architecture across relational, time?series, graph, and columnar storage.
  • Guide event?driven and streaming patterns for telemetry and simulation data.
  • Set API strategy (REST / GraphQL), versioning, resiliency patterns, and contract?first practices.
  • Establish front?end architectural guidelines for design systems, accessibility, and real?time UI needs.
  • Lead security and privacy practices : threat modeling, authN / authZ, secrets handling, auditing.
  • Define observability standards and instrument services with tracing / metrics / logging.
  • Embed data quality and governance : data contracts, lineage, validation, reproducibility.
  • Integrate with simulation / HPC workflows and scientific data types to ensure scalable ingest and visualization.
  • Mentor engineers, lead reviews, and elevate engineering practices.
  • Evaluate build?vs?buy decisions and manage technical trade?offs.
  • Communicate architecture clearly via diagrams, RFCs, and concise briefs.

    • Requirements

  • Senior?level experience architecting data?centric, multi?tier systems across UI, services, and storage.
  • Proficiency with Python service design (FastAPI / Django) and TypeScript SPAs (React / Angular).
  • Strong data modeling skills across relational, time?series, and graph systems; experience with Parquet / Arrow.
  • Proven ability to deliver on NFRs with measurable SLOs and observability.
  • Security fundamentals : OAuth2 / OIDC, RBAC / ABAC, secret management, encryption, auditing.
  • Excellent technical communication (ADRs / RFCs, diagrams).
  • Collaborative leadership and cross?team influence.

    • Required Skills

  • Domain?Driven Design and architecture documentation (C4 / UML), ADR / RFC writing.
  • Front?end architecture : design systems, WCAG?2.2, performance budgets, real?time models.
  • Testing strategy : unit / integration / E2E, contract testing, CI?friendly patterns.
  • Observability : metrics / logging / tracing, SLOs / error budgets, run?books.
  • Docs?as?code workflows (MkDocs / Sphinx) and diagram automation.
