Diesel Mechanic at US Foods, Inc. summary :

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel equipment such as tractors and trailers, following DOT standards and safety regulations. The role requires hands-on experience, the use of fleet maintenance software, and the ability to work in variable weather conditions with physical demands like lifting and climbing. A high school diploma, valid driver's license, and preferably a Class A CDL and DOT certification are required for this position.

Schedule : 2pm to 1030pm w / OT

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
  • Complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
  • Take directions from and assist senior technicians with repairs.
  • Utilize fleet maintenance system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules / regulations and government guidelines.
  • Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Onsite : The associate in this role is expected to perform assigned responsibilities inside a US Foods maintenance facility.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule.
  • Must be willing to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have 1 year of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed); basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification
  • Experience with Maximo fleet maintenance system
  • Previous mechanical and PM program experience
  • Experience using fleet maintenance software
  • Welding ability

    Compensation depends on relevant experience and / or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $35 and $40 per hour. This role will also receive overtime compensation.
