Cath Lab Technologist
The Cath Lab Technologist provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a resource, preceptor, and mentor. Demonstrates skills in decision making and problem solving. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others. Uses standards and guidelines for cost-effective care delivery while incorporating data and information to continuously improve care and practice to enhance outcomes.
Job Responsibilities
- Provides safe patient centered care in a holistic and caring manner. Integrates knowledge, skill and experiences to meet the patient needs.
- Tailors and prioritizes caring practices to individual needs, including cultural/ethical/spiritual needs.
- Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care while determining immediate priorities and offering solutions for problems.
- Assists the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cath and EP lab with the preparation of the sterile field, selection and preparation of instruments and supplies, manipulation of cardiac catheters, guidewires etc. and injection of contrast media.
- Calibrates, operates and troubleshoots a wide variety of equipment and instruments on a daily basis. Maintains quality assurance records as required.
- Selects appropriate instruments and supplies based on patient presentation during procedures.
- Appropriately delegates patient care activities to other healthcare team members and participates in making and revising staff assignments.
- Maintains and performs inventory functions for billing and ordering.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Position Requirements
- Certification - Basic Life Support Upon Start
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Upon Start
- Registered in one of the following: RCIS, RTR VI, RTR CV, RTR CI.
Experience
- One year of experience in interventional Cardiac Cath Lab or Electrophysiology Lab performing Cardio Invasive Specialist duties.
Education
- School of Cardiovascular Technology or Radiology Technology or equivalent education and experience.
Skills
- Fundamental computer skills and keyboard familiarity
- Able to speak and write English Fluently
- Demonstrated communication, organization and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
