How you’ll make an impact in this role
- Manage and support the implementation and operations of the Ethics programming (responsive services, education, and integration) throughout the clinical care setting within the Ministry Market to strengthen Ascension’s identity as a Catholic healing ministry. This onsite position in Tulsa, OK (OH) requires local travel.
- Provide and oversee high-quality Clinical Ethics programming consistent with Ascension’s Catholic ministry identity and The Ethical and Religious Directives (ERDs) in collaboration with the Director of Ethics Integration.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for clinical ethics consultation, including interpretation of the ERDs, for multidisciplinary care teams, patients, and families. Also, lead, coordinate, and support the operations of Ethics Integration Committees, including managing membership and providing member education.
- Participate as a fully engaged member of the Ethics Advisory Community to develop systematic approaches, processes, policies, resources, and content for ministry decision support, ethics education, consultation, and integration into the organization’s clinical processes across Ascension.
- Develop and deliver clinical ethics-related education for providers, staff, and associates to reinforce ethical decision-making and the ERDs, and assist with Mission Integration initiatives, including policy review, development, and representing Ethics on relevant workgroups.
What minimum requirements you’ll need
Education:
- Doctorate degree in Healthcare Ethics, Bioethics, Theology, Nursing, Medical, or Law required. PhD preferred. OR Master's in Healthcare Ethics, Bioethics, Theology, Nursing, Medical, or Law with 2 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
What additional preferences we're seeking
- An MD, Advanced Practitioner (PA, APNP, etc.), or RN with a master’s level degree in health care ethics/bioethics and/or Catholic moral theology, OR an M.A. in a related theological or philosophical ethics field with courses in Catholic theology, required.
- Must have knowledge of the Catholic moral tradition, including the application of the Ethical and Religious Directives (ERDs) to complex clinical care issues, Catholic Social Thought, health care systems, law, and administration.
- 1-3+ years of experience in health care (preferably Catholic health care), with demonstrated familiarity in working with ethics committees, performing clinical ethics consultations, and providing ethics education, required.
