Position Summary :
The Teacher Associate Apprentice assists in the development of an engaging environment that reflects the cultural values and diversity of the children and families served across the center-based programs. She / he provides consistent responsive and respectful care to the children and is also responsible for the safety care and development of all children. The Teachers Associate Apprentice is a regular part time role and supports the programs needs for 22 hours a week. They will work under the guidance of mentor teacher / journey work for 8 hours a week in the same classroom. They will work for a total of 30 hours a week.
Responsibilities :
- Always ensure visual supervision of children in the classroom and outdoors
- Contribute to a safe healthy nurturing and culturally relevant classroom environment for all children and families.
- Follow directions of programs site supervisors mentor teachers and other teaching staff.
- Maintain timely communication with agency staff and IRISE program staff.
- Share any important information that you observe with the Mentor Teacher and Center Manager or designee.
- Refer any important family issues to the Mentor teacher and center manager / site supervisor.
- Learn how to conduct observations and DRDP
- Assist in conducting adult initiated activities as indicated in the lesson plan
- Act as a support and resource during child-initiated activities
- Report / document of child injuries
- Assist in setting up the classroom environment as needed
- Develop goals with Mentor Teacher
- Meeting with Mentor Teacher every two weeks.
- Meet with the Success coach at a minimum of every month.
- Assist with clerical and cleaning duties as needed.
- Ensure that the children are signed in and out of the center using attendance
- Support Family style meals.
- Other duties as assigned.
