POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the general supervision of the Program Administrator, this role provides treatment or habilitation services to individuals with cognitive and/or mental disability. REPORTS TO: Program Administrator
NETWORK OR DEPARTMENT: Network 6
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Serve as an agency-wide leader by sharing expertise through participations in committees, presentations, and training opportunities
- Prior to ISC meetings, review assigned Social Transition Plans and associated data as designated by the ISC chair
- During the ISC meetings, the Behavior Analyst should offer clinical, programmatic, and behavior analytic strategies to enhance Social Transition Plans
- Support QIDP (Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional) in completing efficient and on the job training for ILCS (Independent Living Coaches) in the areas of outcomes
- Ensure timely Training to QIDPs and ILCs following any programmatic updates or changes
- Provide training to QIDPs and ILC's who work directly with individuals in the home and day program, with regards to programmatic and behavioral issues
- Must be able to generate creative solutions to habilitation, treatment, and teaching issues.
- Modify materials for particular individuals and staff where appropriate and seek additional consultation with other behavioral analysts when needed.
- Complete behavioral functional assessments and analyses, if necessary
- Conduct observations for the purpose of determining the functions of specific behavior
- Assess baseline, function, and develop a function-based plan for the individual
- behavior analyst would monitor data being collected, make modifications if the data reflects an increase, and observe staff to check for reliability
- Proactively consult with QIDPs, Team Leaders, ILCs, parents, day program staff and any other persons involved in the person's life, in order to ensure his/her wants and needs are addressed in all environments
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Position requires advanced knowledge of resources and clinical supports for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental illness.
- Excellent human relation skills, is able to be a role model with staff and the individuals being served
- Requires organizational ability and superior communication skills
- Able to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, necessary for providing quality care
- Able to make independent decisions and problem solve
- Able to deal effectively with staff, program participants, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: - Lift over 40 lbs from floor to waist unassisted.
- Push/pull up to 75 lbs and maneuver wheelchairs weighing up to 200 lbs.
- Operate motor vehicles.
- Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods.
- Frequent activities include driving, lifting, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and repetitive motion.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in psychology with an understanding of the dynamics and appropriate treatment techniques utilized with mentally ill or developmentally disabled adults
- Previous experience working with children and/or adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental illness.
