Research Study Coordinator

Job Summary :

Dr. Rinad Beidas’ team in the Department of Medical Social Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is seeking a Research Study Coordinator to assist our team with our diverse research portfolio focused on closing gaps between what is known and what is done (“know-do gaps”) in healthcare delivery – also know as implementation science. Specifically, this position will work on a project focused on implementation of the collaborative care model for mental health treatment in primary care settings.

The Research Study Coordinator will be responsible for various day-to-day operations for this project, including overseeing participant recruitment; conducting qualitative interviews; maintaining qualitative and quantitative research data; assisting with IRB documentation and compliance; conducting literature reviews; and assisting with communication to all investigators, research partners, and study participants. The study coordinator will support the study team and vested partners by scheduling meetings and providing meeting minutes in a timely manner. They may also supervise part-time staff and undergraduate research assistants on the team. As such, the Research Study Coordinator must have impeccable organization, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills as well as strong attention to details. All applicants must be able to demonstrate familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and web-based applications. Working knowledge of REDCap is encouraged.   This position would be ideal for individuals looking to pursue an MA / PhD in Clinical Psychology, public health, or another related discipline; planning to attend medical school in the future; or interested in pursuing a career as research staff (e.g., becoming a project manager in the future).

Coordinates collection, analysis, processing & reporting of data & assists Principal Investigator (PI) and team in regard to biomedical & / or social-behavioral research study(ies) of limited complexity involving co-investigators, multiple campuses & / or   universities.   Completes all activities by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all relevant current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), & the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH).

This is a hybrid work position, and the Research Study Coordinator will be expected to work in the office at least three days per week, as the rest of Dr. Beidas’ team does.

Please note : Supervisor provides objectives, deadlines, and specific instructions only for new, difficult, and / or unusual work. Work is reviewed upon completion and only occasionally to verify technical accuracy and compliance with practice, policy, and procedures.   Coordinator informs supervisor of on-going progress and / or potentially controversial matters.

Specific Responsibilities :

Technical

• Participates in the planning & conduct of research study including participant recruitment and retention.
• Obtains informed consent.
• Administers tests and / or questionnaires following protocols.
• Administers qualitative interviews and contributes to qualitative analyses.
• Collects, compiles, tabulates & processes responses.
• Gathers information.
• Extracts & analyzes data from medical charts.
