Position Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II performs waived moderate and highly complex laboratory testing in accordance with CLIA state regulations and hospital policies. The CLS II works independently using manual and automated methods across multiple laboratory disciplines and ensures accurate timely reporting of patient results.

Position Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II performs waived moderate and highly complex laboratory testing in accordance with CLIA state regulations and hospital policies. The CLS II works independently using manual and automated methods across multiple laboratory disciplines and ensures accurate timely reporting of patient results.
Required Qualifications
- ASCP Certification (or equivalent)
- Current and valid State CLS License with MTA prefix (if required by state)
- Minimum of two (2) years of hospital laboratory experience
- Bachelors degree in chemical physical biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution or as specified under CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489)
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory testing in Hematology Blood Bank Chemistry Urinalysis Coagulation Microbiology Immunology and additional disciplines as introduced
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen collection processing analysis and reporting
- Review and verify patient results prior to release
- Identify testing issues and take corrective action or notify leadership promptly
- Perform and document daily weekly monthly and as-needed instrument maintenance
- Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions
- Recognize age-specific normal ranges from newborn to geriatric patients
- Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture when required
- Ensure proper handling of proficiency testing samples per regulatory guidelines
- Assist in development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures
- Comply with hospital safety infection control and emergency preparedness policies
- Serve as Lead Tech during shift in absence of supervisor as assigned
- Support LIS and Point-of-Care (POC) testing responsibilities as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned by Laboratory Manager or Director

- State Business & Professions Code Section 1204
- Hospital and laboratory accreditation standards
