Chief Tax Officer (CTO), Managing Director
The Chief Tax Officer (CTO), Managing Director is a senior executive responsible for leading the company's global tax strategy, compliance, and risk management. This role provides strategic guidance to executive leadership, oversees all corporate tax operations, and ensures the organization meets its global tax obligations in an efficient and compliant manner. The ideal candidate combines deep technical tax expertise with strong business acumen, enabling proactive support for the company's international growth, financial planning, and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement global tax strategies aligned with the company's business goals.
- Identify and manage tax risks to optimize the company's overall tax position.
- Establish consistent global tax policies, processes, and controls across all regions.
- Monitor global tax legislation and proactively adapt tax strategies to evolving regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a robust tax governance framework, including regular internal audits, controls, and compliance reviews.
Business Advisory and Support
Advise senior management on the tax implications of major business decisions, including mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.Provide tax insights for budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.Collaborate with the treasury team to optimize global cash management, repatriation strategies, and entity funding structures.Oversee tax-related considerations in entity creation to ensure efficient and compliant global structures.Assist with special projects, including tax modeling, due diligence, and carve-out financial statements for M&A activity.Tax Operations & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with tax laws and reporting requirements in all jurisdictions where the company operates.Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of corporate income tax filings, VAT / GST, transfer pricing documentation, and other statutory tax returns.Lead all aspects of U.S. indirect tax compliance, including sales and use taxes and property taxes.Ensure accurate and timely Federal and State & Local quarterly estimated tax payments; develop cash tax budgets and forecasts for integration into the company's financial plans.Manage relationships with tax authorities, external and internal advisors, including overseeing audits, inquiries, and negotiations.Financial Reporting & Controls
Oversee tax provisions for financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., ASC 740, IFRS).Contribute to U.S. GAAP tax provisioning for the company's U.S. entities, including maintaining robust processes and SOX 404 controls.Qualifications
CPA or equivalent advanced degree in Tax, Accounting, or Finance preferred.15+ years of progressive tax experience, including leadership roles in multinational corporations.Deep knowledge of global tax regulations, U.S. federal and state tax, and international tax planning.Proven experience with indirect tax, tax accounting (ASC 740), transfer pricing, and SOX compliance.Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.Ability to lead and develop global, cross-functional teams.
