Overview

CTG is seeking to fill an Application Developer – z / OS position for our client.

Location : Virginia Beach, VA

Duration : 12 months

Duties :

Design, develop, maintain, and support applications within the IBM Mainframe z / OS environment.

Analyze business and technical requirements to implement efficient application solutions.

Write, modify, and test batch and online programs using mainframe languages and tools.

Develop and maintain JCL for batch processing and scheduling.

Work with VSAM and relational / hierarchical databases to ensure data integrity and performance.

Support transaction processing environments and troubleshoot production issues.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analysts, QA, and operations, to deliver reliable solutions.

Adhere to coding standards, change management processes, and documentation requirements.

Skills :

Strong core z / OS skills, including VSAM, JCL, REXX, TSO / ISPF, and mainframe development tools.

Proficiency in at least one mainframe programming language (COBOL, PL / I, or Assembler).

Experience with databases such as DB2 and / or IMS-DB.

Familiarity with transaction processing environments such as CICS and / or IMS-DC.

Strong problem-solving, debugging, and performance tuning skills.

Experience :

Proven experience as an Application Developer in an IBM Mainframe z / OS environment.

Hands-on experience developing and supporting both batch and online applications.

Experience working in enterprise-scale, production mainframe systems.

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
