Job Summary

Seeking part-time faculty to teach ISCI 2001 (Early Childhood and Middle Grades Life and Earth Sciences) and / or ISCI 2002 (Early Childhood and Middle Grades Physical Sciences).

Responsibilities

General topics in ISCI 2001 are based on a basic understanding for early childhood education majors, of the scientific principles congruent with the categories delineated in the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) grades Pre-K-5 and focusing on the themes of characteristics of life, biodiversity / heredity, energy flow, interdependence of life, cell, Earth systems, lithosphere (including formation of the solar system), hydrosphere, and biosphere. This is an activity-based course with no separate lab component.

General topics in ISCI 2002 are based on a basic understandingfor elementary education majors, of the scientific principles congruent with the categories delineated in the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) grades Pre-K ¿ 5 and focusing on the themes of composition, properties, changes and conservation of matter, sources, types, utilization, change and conservation of energy, force in terms of motion, gravity, kinematics, and waves, and electrical, magnetic and gravitational fields. This is an activity-based course with no separate lab component.

Required Qualifications

A commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.

Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in the discipline (e.g. for ISCI 2001, Biological Sciences, and for ISCI 2002, Physical Sciences).
