At VCI Construction, as a Groundman, you'll support an Aerial Telecom Crew with the installation and maintenance of fiber/telecom cables and materials. We're looking for a Groundman to join our Aerial Crew team and help connect America. As a Groundman you will perform duties related to install and and repair aerial telecommunications cable and ensure scope of work performed is within standards required by customers.

What you'll do

• Reposition or move bucket trucks, trailers, or equipment as directed
• Provide tools, parts, and materials to crew members as needed
• Ensure that door-tagging and resident notifications for construction activities are completed before starting work each day
• Stock, clean, and maintain all company vehicles and equipment
• Perform hand digging using shovels and mechanical tools
• Direct/flag traffic flow in line with local DOT guidelines
• Work overtime, travel, and perform on-call/afterhours responsibilities as needed
• Perform work in all weather conditions
• Other duties as assigned

  • Perform underground telecommunications construction, including driving, loading, digging, equipment removal, material placement, restoration, and repair.
  • Operate or work near heavy machinery and construction tools safely.
  • Hand dig using shovels and mechanical tools.
  • Maintain a safe worksite, visually and audibly coordinating with the crew, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Restore property, including asphalt, concrete, sod, and landscaping, to its original state.
  • Travel to and from job sites as required

What you'll need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Certified pole climber or be willing to become certified required
• Previous labor experience in telecommunications is a plus
  
  Physical abilities & exposures
  
  • Routinely: work with arms above shoulder level at heights, in confined spaces and in remote locations, climb stairs, bend, stoop, stand, walk and lift up to 55 pounds, operate vehicle & heavy machinery
  • Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse

The wage range for Laborer Telecom Aerial is $18.00 - $23.00
