[job_card.job_description]Psychiatrist 1 : License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the ABPN. Psychiatrist 2 : License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN. Limited permit option : Licensed in another state or Canada with a current limited permit to practice in New York; must obtain a New York license within one year of appointment. Psychiatrist Loan Repayment Program up to $120,000. Competitive salaries and supplemental income up to 50% of salary through evening, night, and weekend coverage. Broader defense and indemnification protection beyond typical medical malpractice coverage. OMH‑sponsored CME program and professional leave for additional learning activities. Generous paid time off and professional growth opportunities. NYS medical, dental, vision insurance and retirement programs (Pension and Deferred Compensation). Must not be listed as an excluded individual or entity on federal or state Medicaid / Medicare exclusion lists. May need to enroll as a Medicare provider and obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) for billing through Medicare and Medicaid. Continued employment depends on current licensure and, for Psychiatrist 1 / 2, certification in child and adolescent psychiatry; loss may result in removal. Seniority level : Entry level. Psychiatrist 1 / Psychiatrist 2 (NY HELPS) – Rockland Psychiatric Center
Join the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) as a Psychiatrist at the Rockland Psychiatric Center. The role is open to candidates with licensure in New York State; applicants from outside or within State Service can apply.
Pay
Base pay range : $270,356.00 / yr – $283,577.00 / yr. The actual pay depends on experience and will be discussed with the recruiter.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and patient admissions.
- Create treatment plans, including medication management.
- Obtain and review relevant laboratory tests, consulting with treatment team members as needed.
- Provide individual and group psychotherapy.

Transfer Opportunity
Eligible after one year of permanent service as Psychiatrist 1, Psychiatrist 2, or Psychiatrist (Children and Youth) for lateral transfer.
