Maricopa Summary

Job Summary

This position will work in support of all the operations of the costume shop including altering and constructing costumes for theatre, dance, and musical productions as well as assisting on wardrobe crews.

Essential Functions

35% - Constructing costume pieces for theatre, dance, and musical productions.
(20%) - Sewing, altering, mending, and constructing costumes.
(15%) - Embellishing existing or rented costumes with nondestructive techniques.

30% - Participate in daily shop operations.
(10%) - Run laundry after performances or rehearsals.
(10%) - Put away costumes, tools, and supplies.
(10%) - Maintaining a clean shop space for all students, staff, and faculty.

25% - Work on wardrobe crew for productions.
(15%) - Assist cast with costume changes, makeup, and hair.
(10%) - Assist cast and crew with their duties in order to ensure a high quality production.

5% - Assisting Department Functions
(5%) - Assists the Performing Arts Center Manager in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all users of CGCC’s performing arts facilities. Enforces applicable health, safety policies and regulations as established by the Performing Arts Center Manager.

5% - Other Duties
(5%) - Performs other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

All qualifications are preferred but not required unless otherwise noted.
For assignment to the costume shop:
Familiarity with sewing machines and sergers.
Experience working with patterns for garment construction.
Experience executing a costume design that fits a character.
An interest and a willingness to learn new techniques is required.
