Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med Surg RN for night shifts at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring an active IL RN license and BLS/NIH certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Position is in the Medical Surgical unit of a Level I trauma, Magnet hospital
• Work schedule is 3x12 hour night shifts (18:45-07:15), including every other weekend
• Patient ratio is 1:5 for all shifts with an average daily census of 21
• Floating required to other Med Surg or similar units within the hospital or nearby affiliates
• Cerner charting system is used and Cerner experience is preferred
• Responsibilities include caring for a diverse Med Surg patient population, potentially including cardiac, endocrine, GI, renal, ortho trauma, neurological, and post-surgical cases
• Skills such as telemetry, rapid response, IV therapy, wound care, and use of respiratory support devices are preferred
• Supportive team environment at a large, acute care teaching hospital
• Scrub attire can be any solid color
• Parking permit required but provided at no cost
• First-time travelers are encouraged to apply
• Time off requests of up to 5 days are auto-approved; more require approval
• Candidates must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays as scheduled

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active IL RN license in hand required at time of application
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg RN experience required
• Current BLS and NIH certifications required (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI not accepted)
• Med/Surg experience required; telemetry, cardiac, and emergency response skills preferred
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Must not have been a permanent or PRN employee of the health system in the past 12 months
