Organizational Unit Overview: The Office of Data Analysis and Strategy supports program accreditation, continuous quality improvement efforts, data management, data analysis, and reporting for the undergraduate medical education program and offices within Academic Affairs at Brody School of Medicine.
Job Duties: The Brody School of Medicine’s Department of Academic Affairs is seeking to hire a Data Analyst to join their team. This will be a Full-time, 12-Month, At Will position. The Data Analyst position in the Office of Data Analysis and Strategy (ODAS) provides focused support in areas of data collection, analysis, interpretation of data, and presentation of reports for the medical education program, guides the improvement of educational and operational business processes, and engages in the development of the medical education data warehouse.
Specific duties include-
Data and statistical analysis: (40%)
- Extracts data from multiple systems and prepares data sets for statistical analysis and predictive analytics.
- Identifies and investigates significant differences or anomalies in data.
- Uses appropriate quantitative and qualitative analysis to analyze survey data.
- Conducts longitudinal analysis and works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in research studies of medical education and/or related topics.
- Supports development and administration of surveys and other data collection instruments.
Reporting: (40%)
- Collects, analyzes, interprets, and summarizes data in preparation for the generation of statistical and analytical reports using data visualization tools
- Develops methodology to facilitate and automate the distribution of reports.
- Responds to ad hoc requests for medical student data, assessments, evaluations, academic progression, and related data.
Other duties: (20%)
- Assists with the development of educational data warehouse and the creation of databases to collect and manage educational, student, and operational data.
- Works with other offices and/or departments to streamline internal and external data collection and management processes for increased accuracy and efficiency.
- Participates in projects related to program accreditation and strategic planning.
- Prepares presentations and documents for distribution to appropriate stakeholders.
- Documents standard operating procedures and assist in documenting business processes.
- Assists with scholarship activity in the office as requested or assigned by the supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience: - Master’s degree in education, statistics, mathematics, computer science, data science, or related field; or bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, data science, or related field, and minimum 2 years of related experience.
- Proficient with data extraction, data cleaning, data transformation, and creating reports to present insights.
- Experience with statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, Python), data visualization tools like Power BI, and querying databases using SQL.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation: None
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: - Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with various groups.
- Previous experience as a Data Analyst or similar position, preferred in higher education or related field.
