[job_card.job_description]Low- Acuity Clinic (LAC). 2 mid-levels provide acute care to approx. 25 veterans per day during the hours of 8 : 00am – 6 : 00pm. Ambulance Service consist of 4 Paramedics and 4 EMT’s. Ambulance is staffed with a Paramedic & EMT until 12 : 00am Monday thru Friday. Weekends the Ambulance is staffed until 8 : 00pm. This position will report to the Section Chief of Emergency Room Medicine Department. This service provides care during days, and occasional nights to 50-75. veterans per month. This is working 36 clinical hours during a 2-week period. 4 hours of administration time is given to each part-time provider to complete any documentation requirements including coding inquires, training modules (TMS), ALS / BLS, etc. Employee can take part in 40 hours paid VA funded (or non-VA funded) CME hours per fiscal year. Employees are encouraged to take part in optional education opportunities provided on-site by the VA Learning Resources department. Compressed; includes Weekends, Nights, and Holidays. Night call 1-2 times per month. Board Certified or Board Eligible. Preferred 2-3 years of Emergency Medicine post residency in outpatient setting. 3 years is ideal but less can be considered with experience in rural location. Non-OR Airway Management level 3 compliance required. Point of Care Ultrasound competency preferred. Federal Retirement Plans through the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) - A three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS-FRAE basic benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan, with up to five percent government matching. Additionally, VA offers Insurance to include Health-Dental-Vision care insurance programs to choose from with premiums partially paid by VA; Flexible Spending Accounts; Term life insurance, family, and additional coverage options are available at the cost shared by the Federal Government; and long-term care insurance is available as an option. Pay Flexibilities Regular market pay reviews, sign on bonus, up to $15,000 in Annual Performance bonus. Malpractice Insurance VA physicians are covered under the Federal Tort Claims Act - 28 U.S.C. § 1346 and 28 U.S.C § 2671. Medical personnel have statutory immunity from “individual” malpractice liability while acting within the scope of employment; a VA physician cannot be sued in civil court for a malpractice (tort) claim.
