Job Brief
The Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for interfacing with suppliers, developing procurement strategies, and ensuring the quality and compliance of subcontracted parts and assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical interface with suppliers for the fabrication of subcontracted parts and assemblies
- Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing Engineers and Quality to analyze new requirements
- Perform on-site supplier quality audits / assessments
- Maintain approved supplier list and supporting evaluations
- Perform deep dives to analyze supplier issues / problems, risks and facilitate containment, implementation of corrective and preventative actions, and development of lessons learned
- Verify supplier containment is taken immediately upon discovery of a quality concern
- Review supplier manufacturing processes and collaborate with suppliers on process improvements, capabilities, and value enhancement opportunities
- Analyze and improve supplier processes for bottlenecks and throughput to identify any constraints on production capacity
- Improve quality, cost, delivery, and capacity metrics across the supply chain.
