By The Hand Club For Kids is a Christian after-school program that emphasizes academic excellence while nurturing the whole child mind body and soul. Located in Chicagos most under-resourced neighborhoods By The Hand helps children have abundant life. The culture of By The Hand is Christ-centered people-focused and results- oriented. By The Hand is a not for profit religious organization. Individuals employed by By The Hand are working in ministerial roles and perform all or some of the following responsibilities : sharing the Gospel teaching chapel leading Bible studiesdiscipling students and modeling behavior that is consistent with Christs teaching.

Rate of Pay : $50000 per year

Overview of Position

Reporting to the Vice President of Spiritual Development this position is responsible for creating an environment that facilitates spiritual growth and renewal in all aspects of By The Hands work with NXT students. The NXT Spiritual Development Specialist oversees the NXT spiritual curriculum for all sites and works with staff to encourage a growing and vibrant Christian life that enables them to effectively disciple others.

Spiritual Requirements

Has a personal and saving relationship with Jesus Christ evidenced by a lifestyle that demonstrates the Word of God and is in regular fellowship with other members in a Bible-believing church.

Agrees with the By The Hand Club Doctrinal Statement and adheres to the Employee Biblical Standards of Living.

Shows by example the importance of Scripture memorization Bible study prayer witnessing and Christian fellowship.

Participates in weekly team prayer and devotion.

Has completed an evangelism course and is trained and prepared to share the gospel with anyone who inquires.

Works with leadership to monitor and enforce policies and procedures to further the By The Hands religious purpose and religious freedom.

Role Responsibilities

Performs in a way that is consistent with the vision mission and culture of By The Hand and commits to excellence in every aspect of the overall operation.

Models cultural values of By The Hand Club For Kids in day-to-day behavior.

Follows all policies as outlined in the operational guide including maintaining brand standards and ensuring 100% adherence to the Child Protection Policy.

Participates in employee growth plans including quarterly conversations and annual review meetings.

Trains and supports the NXT Coaches in how to effectively teach spiritual curriculum.

Makes observations of NXT Coaches during Bible study time to provide feedback and coaching to ensure proper implementation of the curriculum.

Lead engaging Bible studies weekly at each site.

Prepare and conduct small group discipleship gatherings at each site.

Plan and lead the monthly NXT C3 (Cross City Church) which is a relevant highly engaging high energy youth focused church gathering.

Creates partnerships by building relationships with local churches in each of our communities.

Connects students and their families to local churches.

Participates with community outreach activities at the various sites.

In collaboration with the Vice President of Spiritual Development researches and develops Bible Study curriculum to be used by NXT Coaches for weekly faith formation at the local sites.

Builds a culture for youth-led services and activities for spiritual and leadership growth.

Provides students with opportunities to grow in their faith through spiritually enriching activities events and experiences.

Plan and conduct student retreats.

Shepherds youth in developing their relationship with God by creating and implementing a plan to encourage regular church attendance daily Bible reading and prayer.

Develop and implement an evangelism plan to teach students how to share the gospel with others.

Plan service projects for students to respond to Gods call to serve.

Establish a vibrant spiritual culture at the local sites within the NXT program.

Attends weekly Spiritual Development Department team meetings.

Keeps track of student metrics and spiritual forms in google suite.

Performs other duties as required and assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelors degree or Masters degree in Divinity Biblical Studies Urban Ministry Education Youth Development or related degree.

Minimum of 3 years experience working with teenagers in a ministry setting.

Experience using Google Suite products Google Drive communication phone apps.

Must have a valid drivers license available transportation and their own auto insurance to travel to sites.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers photocopies and filing cabinets. This job is not a virtual job but it requires in-person attendance as agreed upon by your immediate supervisor.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to speak and listen. This role may require you to move equipment from room to room and lift up to 50 pounds. The individual is also required to travel to other organization sites to meet with staff students and partners.
