A Glimpse of the Job

The Finance & Business Services Analyst II, under minimal supervision, is responsible for providing accounting or business support to a designated unit, department, college, or other System member; serving as a resource within their unit for other staff members; auditing, reporting, reconciling, tracking, reviewing, or approving actions on their designated accounts and/or assigned duties; and managing projects, reports, or functions with routine processes.

Essential Duties/Tasks

Accounting / Business Support

1. Exhibits high-level competencies in preparing, reviewing, and auditing financial system entries
2. Reconciles accounts and identifies corrections needed
3. Identifies and resolves outstanding items and implements solutions/communicates actions
4. Assists with external reporting functions
5. Provides oversight, reviews, and audits account payables/receivables, expense allocations, requisitions, purchase orders, contracts billing, and collections
6. Assists in preparing annual budget allocations to departments, position budgeting tasks, commitment tracking, and departmental budget requests

Office / Project Support

1. Tracks internal projects, audits, business records, and records management
2. Coordinates access requests
3. Oversees or leads a function or serves as a subject matter expert in one or more areas
4. Research policies, practices, and/or trouble transactions for solutions
5. Prepares and maintains standard operating procedures and internal resource documents
6. May review and revise job aides as needed
7. May supervise student workers
8. May mentor or train subordinate staff members

Contract Administration

1. Review non-research contracts for compliance with state, A&M System, and university rules and procedures for compliance
2. Identify risks within contracts and effectively communicate those risks to stakeholders on campus
3. Coordinate contract reviews with other campus partners, such as the Division of Risk, Ethics, and Compliance, Technology Services, Office of General Counsel, and others
4. Communicate contract status with interested parties.
5. Negotiate terms and conditions with external parties for the university's best interests

Salary: $55,000

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Two years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in reviewing, negotiating, and awarding contracts for members of The Texas A&M University System
• Previous experience in reviewing, negotiating, and awarding contracts for public institutions of higher education within the state of Texas

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
• Knowledge of financial management system and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently once given a project
• Ability to apply rules and regulations in a complex environment
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding

Other Requirements and Factors

• This position is security sensitive
• This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures
