Job Description:
The Admissions Counselor position at Christian Brothers University is a dynamic, entry-level position that focuses on the engagement and recruitment of prospective students. The position requires enthusiasm that engages prospective students to ensure that the University is recruiting a diverse and talented enrollment class. This position also includes traveling to key high schools in an assigned territory and interacting with students, parents, high school counselors, and alumni. An Admissions Counselor conducts information sessions, confers with admitted students/families, and contributes to the success of numerous visitation/recruitment programs. They will also have collegial interactions with several internal University offices and external partners. The position may also include the recruitment of specific cohorts of students in support of university enrollment goals.
Other Responsibilities:
- Independently manage a geographic territory by analyzing multiple data sources to develop and create an extensive travel, recruitment, communication, and outreach plan to drive new student enrollment to support the CBU's strategic enrollment goals.
- Outreach will include extensive phone calling, email, and texting in a data-driven, goal-oriented, performance-based environment.
- Review and make admission decisions on traditional undergraduate applications. This also includes evaluating student credentials, such as high school transcripts and supplemental materials, which are required as part of the application review process.
- Ensure accurate and proper student status within the University's systems, including the Admissions CRM and Student Information Systems.
- Conduct information sessions and college fairs/nights, as well as meetings with prospective students and their families.
- Prepare and revise presentations as needed to ensure appropriate information for the audience (e.g., general, specific academic area, honors program, etc.)
- Answer incoming phone calls and emails from prospective students, parents, and school counselors that come through the Admission Office.
- Be familiar with all University policies and procedures with key campus partners such as Financial Aid, Registrar, Office of Student Success, and Student Life.
- Perform all duties as needed, including special projects that the Director of Admissions or senior leadership team may assign.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree is required.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate the highest level of customer service, with a preference for individuals with experience in collegiate recruitment, academic advising, or student services.
- As a member of the Undergraduate Admissions team, working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment will be a key component of the position, while maintaining the ability to multi-task
- The Admissions Counselor will display a strong commitment to understanding the importance of teamwork but recognize that many tasks require autonomy and independent thinking.
- Although not required, applicants with experience working with client relationship management tools (Slate) or student information systems (Banner) are preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and strong organizational and analytical skills are also essential.
- This position will also require work outside the traditional business hours (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM), including weekends.
- Candidates must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel.
