Job Title : Employment Specialist (Job Developer)
Summary : The Employment Specialist (Job Developer) is responsible for assisting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in securing and maintaining meaningful employment. The primary focus is on job development through employer outreach, job matching, and supporting individuals in obtaining competitive, integrated employment opportunities aligned with their interests and strengths.
Essential Job Duties :
- Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses to create and identify suitable employment opportunities.
- Conduct vocational assessments to identify client interests, strengths, and employment goals.
- Collaborate with clients, families, support teams, and employers to ensure successful job placements.
- Assist clients in preparing for employment through job coaching, resume creation, interview preparation, and application assistance.
- Educate employers on the benefits of inclusive employment practices and accommodations for employees with disabilities.
- Document daily activities, client interactions, employer contacts, and progress reports accurately in electronic systems.
- Monitor labor market trends to align job development activities with current and future employment opportunities.
- Provide ongoing support and coordination with Job Coaches to facilitate long-term employment success and independence.
- Attend regular team meetings and communicate effectively with all stakeholders involved in the client’s employment journey.
- Adhere to agency policies, safety standards, and employment regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements :
Minimum age of 18 years.Pass required criminal background checks.Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation.Minimum of one year’s experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities; experience in employment services preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and electronic record systems.Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Ability to lift 20 lbs. and perform physical tasks as necessary.Knowledge of local employment resources and labor market trends.Commitment to Employment First principles and person-centered approaches.Preferred Qualifications :
Bilingual (English / Spanish) proficiency strongly preferred.Certification in employment services or related fields.Work Environment : This position involves regular travel within the community, interaction with employers, and varied work environments based on client employment settings.
