Job Title: Substitute School Nurse
Location: Multiple Locations
Reports To: Nurse Coordinator and Principal in the respective building
Calendar: Employed on a daily basis according to need
Salary: $150/day
Benefits: None

Job Summary:

To provide district-wide school health services that promote the highest level of physical, mental and social well-being for all district students. Acts as a Substitute Nurse for the Kuna School District when a School Nurse is out or unavailable.

Qualifications:

• Possess a current state license to practice as a registered nurse
• Prefer a minimum of five years of varied nursing experience and previous school nurse experience
• Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below
• Positive public relations skills

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Work collaboratively with schools, staff, and other nurses to provide consistency in care for students
2. Perform any other professional duties requested by the superintendent.
3. Report to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school medical matters. Report to the school principal before reporting to parents.
4. Observe students detect health needs as requested by IEP Teams, Student Assistance Teams, Care Teams, or building administrators.
5. Assume the authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered injury or emergency illness.
6. Assume responsibility for accident reports.
7. Visit students' homes when necessary.
8. Recommend to the administration the exclusion and re-admission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
9. Deal with students, parents, staff, and others in a positive, encouraging manner.
10. Know and follow district policy and chain of command.
11. Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
12. Any other duties as assigned.
13. May require travel among different schools within the District
