Overview
The Networking Manager is responsible for leading the networking team and ensuring consistent, secure, and scalable network solutions across all client environments. This role oversees network implementation projects, ongoing operational support, team performance, and process maturity to maintain predictable service delivery and strong client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor network engineers and analysts, driving accountability, performance improvement, and professional development.
- Conduct regular coaching, reviews, and skills planning to ensure the team can support a growing client base.
- Foster a collaborative culture focused on documentation, communication, and continuous improvement.
- Project & Implementation Oversight
- Own end-to-end delivery of network implementation projects across multiple clients, ensuring scope alignment, on-time execution, and clear communication.
- Ensure high standards for designs, configurations, and documentation in accordance with MSP best practices.
Operational Performance & Process Improvement
- Define and monitor KPIs such as SLA adherence, project timelines, ticket aging, and network health metrics.
- Identify recurring issues, inefficiencies, and tools/process gaps to enhance stability and reduce reactive workloads.
- Maintain compliance with CMMC/NIST and internal change management processes to support secure and repeatable operations.
Cross-Functional Alignment
- Partner with internal and external teams to ensure smooth handoffs and consistent client experience.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders regarding project status, risks, and impacts.
- Support roadmap planning, lifecycle refreshes, and network modernization initiatives across the MSP.
Qualifications
- 5-7+ years of experience in network engineering within an MSP or multi-tenant environment.
- 5+ years in a leadership, team lead, or senior role.
- Experience owning client facing discussions on CMMC/NIST driven requirements.
- Experience with enterprise networking platforms (Sonicwall, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Meraki, etc.)
- Mentor level knowledge of routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, segmentation, VPN, and zero-trust principles.
- Required certifications: Sec+ CE
